The Changing Face of War: an online conference

I received an email yesterday from the Wiley-Blackwell Exchanges, kindly announcing a “free online virtual conference” on the theme “The Changing Face of War,” running this week from November 14th to 20th. It looks truly fascinating. Today’s program, for example:

9am PAPER ‘War and Peace’ (Transactions of the Institute of British Geographers) Derek Gregory

11am PAPER ‘“Transformation in contact”: learning the lessons of modern war’ (International Affairs) Robert T. Foley, Stuart Griffin and Helen McCartney

2pm ‘Peace psychology: definition, scope, impact’ (Encyclopedia of Peace Psychology) Daniel J. Christie

3pm Publishing Workshop: ‘10 Things New Scholars should do to get published’ Duane Wegener

4pm Publishing Workshop: ‘Managing a Co‐editorship’ Brian Donovan & Bill Staples

5pm ‘Pacifism’ (Encyclopedia of War) Martin Ceadel

And the papers posted and discussed so far look amazing as well, including one titled ” Bereaved and aggrieved: combat motivation and the ideoloyg of sacrifice in the First World War.”  Many of these are available in podcast and as PDFs, and via live streaming at the times listed (I think…).  The ability to read and comment on new work and perspectives should certainly prove stimulating.  Do check it out!
