CFP for the 4th Syracuse Graduate History Conference

Here is a call for papers that came through my inbox today and deserves a shout-out, Syracuse U being a sister institution:

**CALL FOR PAPERS** – Syracuse Graduate History Conference: Exchanges and
Returns: The Crossroads of Interaction

The fourth annual SYRACUSE GRADUATE HISTORY CONFERENCE is now inviting
proposals for papers.

This year’s conference will be held 23 March 2012 on the campus of Syracuse
University. The conference is hosted by the Future Professoriate Program of
the Syracuse University Department of History, which exists to help graduate
students develop teaching skills, research techniques, and professional
identity. Graduate students throughout the northeast region and beyond are
welcome to apply, proposing either individual or panel presentations.

The theme of the conference, “Exchanges and Returns: The Crossroads of
Interaction,” is meant to provoke a range of proposals from all subfields,
subjects, periods and regions. We will be accepting papers from any
geographic location on a wide range of themes including but not limited to:
the exchange of goods and ideas; the intersection of peoples and polities;
transfers of power, knowledge, technologies between metropole and
peripheries; and the crossroads of past and present.

Paper presentations will be 20 minutes long in three-person panels.
Priority will be given to panels representing more than one university.  For
individual paper proposals, please submit a C.V. and a 300-word abstract.
For panel proposals, please also submit a 200-word panel abstract.  The
proposal deadline is 30 November 2011.  (Acceptance notifications will be
sent out in December 2011.)  Please email all proposals to Paul Arras at
paarras@syr.edu.

Participants will be responsible for their own travel and meal expenses, but
some refreshments will be provided.  For more information, please contact
Paul Arras at paarras@syr.edu.
