This out from the NYT just a few hours ago. MSN is also picking up on it too. I haven’t had time to read it carefully, but it certainly looks to be a developing story this week. I’m not sure, at first glance, that there’s anything surprising in the “real” story being grimmer than the official one–upbeat (did I hear someone say propaganda?) reports are more-or-less forced on any administration, because even-handed reports would suffer a heavy PR backlash, and the fact is that military operations are not easy, upbeat activities. So, how much “difference” this stuff will make is open to question, I think. Anyway, here’s the story, with a bunch of excellent links and sub-stories.
