This looks a long way from completion, and I’m not entirely sure how it’s supposed to work, or if it’s viable in the long run, BUT…four NYU students are busy constructing a new social networking site that is supposedly designed to eliminate the privacy issues which have been plaguing Facebook of late. It’s called Diaspora (interesting choice of name…), and seems to be a project to follow. The team’s blog and info is here. Mother Nature Network has an interesting article on the project, and the BBC has a broader article surveying new social networking initiatives. Worth reading.
